Vintage images reborn, Marie Antoinette before and after

Wendys artworkMany of you may wonder where I find my Marie Antoinette and other

lovely vintage characters for my artwork and designs.

Well, most are readily available as public domain images in their original form.

However they undergo dramatic facelifts and costume changes in my hands,

working with photoshop and sometimes original watercolour and gouache.

Many hours of work goes into their transformation.

My goal is to achieve a visual harmony with the past and present

adding exquisite detail and charm.

I love to transform beautiful new characters from the old,

sometimes very shabby vintage images.

Happy customers

I love to see customer photographs of the prints and cards they buy from me.

Here is an absolutely beautifully styled one from a customer in Norway.

The print of my original watercolour illustrated French patisserie is available here at Café Baudelaire

It works beautifully for kitchen decor as you can see:)

My inspiration

Wendy Refvvv

My inspiration comes in many forms but these vintage French button cards

are some of my favourite pieces of ephemera. I have had them for many years

and they are a cherished part of my collection, found in an antique shops in Australia and from France.

I have used them in many collages over the years.

The “Mode” font was the inspiration behind the Mulberry Muse logo!

Mulberry Blog Banner 2013

The card below has my illustration of Marie Antoinette collaged with vintage ephemera

it includes the “Mode” font and other bits and pieces of my original artwork.
